1. No one cares about the conferences, WE just want to see the two best teams battle it out for the championship.

2. With everything going on, this would be the perfect time to at least test a 1-16 seed format. After all it can’t hurt to try it.

3. There are teams that deserve to be in the playoffs that don’t make it, because they are in the dominating west. Teams should not be punished because they are located in a certain area.

4. Excitement. Excitement. Excitement. We have had the same playoff format for wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to long and it would be very exciting to see a change and see the 1 seed take on the 16 seed.

5. Because of the current format the two best teams might not be able to play against each other in the finals. For instance, the clippers and lakers are both in the same conference, which means they are unable to battle it out for the championship. Ugh.

I’m sure there are more reasons and I’m sure there are reasons we shouldn’t do this format but I truly believe the NBA should have tried this format this year, especially because the games will be played in Orlando, so travel will not be any concern.

Anyways, I believe we need a change and whatever that change is, it does not involve having conferences decide what teams play against what teams.
